The Brief and our Approach
The brief was to introduce and educate travel agents about Fukuoka Prefecture and inspire them to sell the destination to their clients. Our key challenge was Fukuoka Prefecture is not widely known in Australia or included in many wholesaler product ranges.
Our approach saw us:
- Invite top-selling Japan travel agents and key wholesalers to an information evening
- Give guests a feel for the destination by hosting the event in a traditional ramen bar
- Serve authentic Japanese cuisine and give guests the opportunity to meet the chefs and learn how the dishes were prepared
- Provide a short presentation with images of the destination to help capture people’s imaginations
- And call on members of the Fukuoka Prefecture Tourism team to answer any questions about the destination
The Results
- 30 x travel agents and wholesalers attended the event
- A post event survey revealed agents were more likely to recommend Fukuoka to their clients
- The team from Fukuoka Prefecture Tourism gained invaluable insights about the Australian market and its potential for future growth
